I got it from my mama

Who would've thought? There's some wisdom in's lyrics "Baby, where'd you get your body from? I got it from my mama."
Okay so I'm not exactly talking about getting your junk in the trunk from your mom (although if you did get a nice booty from her, feel free to thank her this Mother's Day!) What I mean is I have inherited so many things from my mom- a big heart, the desire to please others, confidence, and integrity, among a multitude of other things.  Every quality that is similar to hers in any way, I am grateful for because my mom is such an amazing and inspirational person. And I never ever ever tell her that.

If you're anything like me, and sometimes always forget to tell your mom how much you care, make her a heartfelt Mother's Day card!  I tried out this website called amazing.  You can create custom cards by adding personal photos, personalized messages and your signature for a personal touch. Cardstore can also print, stamp and send your card via US postal service for you.  So easy! And the designs are endless, not to mention adorable.  Cardstore has been awesome enough to give you a special rate. Hollaaaa.  All you have to do is just put CSF3199 into the promotional codes before you checkout and make your purchase online.  That means the cards will only be $1.99 each. Ready, Set, Shop!

I made one for my Grandma & my mom because it was so fun & painless. Here's a picture of the front of the one I made for my Grandma. Cute right?

There's the inside where you can change the font, colors, add pictures, add your signature or you can just keep it how the original template was. Whatever floats your boat!

I cannot begin to thank my mom (& my Grandma too!) for everything that she has done for me. How many times has she stayed up with me when I have another ear infection and am screaming from the excruciating pain? Without fail she does my laundry. She doesn't even hesitate to come and pick me up from Madison which is 3 and a half hours away when I need to go home for something. She's always surprising me with gifts or treats. I'm spoiled.

A couple weekends ago was my sorority's Mom's Weekend where we did fun activities with our moms and our "sisters".  I was so happy to have my mom there. We had so much fun. And my mom was the ultimate trooper! She's usually passed out on the couch by 9 PM every night (ya know gotta get that beauty sleep in!) but she stayed out with me until midnight (a.k.a. a new record) just to make sure that I was having fun. Basically what I'm trying to say is if I turn out to be half as good of a mom as her, I'll be in pretty good shape.  So here's to getting it from your mama!

The Best Free Apps

True Life: I'm addicted to my iPhone.  What can that little device not do?  It's a calculator, iPod, phone, camera, flashlight, the list goes on and on.  Besides the popular apps- Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pintrest, SnapChat, etc- there are so many more useful ones right at your fingertips ( ha literally).  Whether you love to shop, want to edit photos, or just listen to music I guarantee there's an app for you, and better yet it's probably free!  If you shop somewhere often, search to see if there's an app so you can get exclusive deals or rewards (Victoria's Secret, anyone?).  Or maybe download one of the airline apps if you travel a lot.  If you're obsessed with a TV or music artist, check out what the app store has to offer.  After you're done, check on some of my faves- you may fall in love.

Find My Phone

What in the world did I do without this app?!  I guess, not so much the app as connecting my iPhone with iCloud.  I literally lose my phone 389470238 times per day so for me, discovering this was monumental.  Once you connect your phone to iCloud, you can locate it from someone else's phone who has this app or on any computer.  You can also lock your phone, erase all the data, have it play sounds, or send a message to the person who may come across your phone.

Find My Friends

A little creepy but hey!  Download this app, add your friends, and you can locate them at any point.  Perfect if you have a friend who has a tendency of getting lost. This can also serve as a form of entertainment if you know your friends are traveling.  You can track their progress without badgering them the whole time.  Or you can casually tell someone you know where they are.  Either way.

Battery Doctor

My battery dies on the reg.  I'm the girl who is lugging a charger everywhere and plugging my phone in at random places.  Not anymore!  This app tell your how many hours of battery your phone has left, as well as how to optimize your battery life.  For example, it says how much longer your battery will last if you suspend Wi-Fi.  It also comes with tips on how to maintain your battery and extend usage. Lifesaver.

Nike Training Club

Who knew my iPhone would double as a personal trainer?  These workouts are amazing.  You can pick between four categories- Get Lean, Get Toned, Get Strong or Get Focused.  Each have multiple workouts that range anywhere from 15-45 minutes making your workout more personalized.  You can also choose beginner, intermediate, and advanced depending on your skill level. If you choose Get Focused, you can pick which body part you want to perfect- legs, arms, abs, back, shoulders, butt.  Once you've completed however many workouts, you can download bonus workouts from prominent athletes such as Hope Solo, Serena Williams, and Shawn Johnson.  Get ready to sweat!

Charity Miles

While you're on that workout grind, why not go for a quick run, walk, or bike ride?  Wait, and you can help a charity while you're at it!  Say no more.  Just pick the organization and go.

Beauty Box

This app can work miracles.  You can make your photos look brighter or clearer with multiple filters.  Like Instagram, but a little more natural-looking.  It can even out your skin tone, or just make you look like you just stepped off the Red Carpet.  Nothing wrong with that.  Try it and thank me later.

Okay so I got this app then had to delete it because I felt like a stalker, but it was fun while it lasted.  Only girls can access it.  Cosmopolitan claims it's "Sex and the City meets Facebook".  Girls can anonymously review guys based on if he is a friend, crush, hookup, or relative.  Sooo if you've got your eye on someone, you can check out what others girls say about him.  However, I wouldn't recommend actually basing your opinion on this- it's just fun to see. Scratch that, it's hilarious.

Your Brand of Beautiful

This Thursday I did something I've never done before- I went to a Drag Show. And let me tell you, it was an experience!  If you know anything about me I live for trying new things. Seriously, my bucket list is miles long. So when my friend Ally told me about the Drag Show I was up for it one hundred percent.  Plus, in one of my classes we were talking about the show RuPaul's Drag Race and one of the contestants from Season 2, Jujubee, was hosting it.  I mean, I've never seen the show, but I'm a sucker for celebrities even if I have no idea who they are.  (Yes I am pathetic if that's what you were thinking.)

I went with my two friends Erin and Ally.  It was held at the Memorial Union Great Hall, so basically a huge room with a stage set up and about four hundred people.  Everyone was so jacked to be there which was probably one of the best parts!  Besides Jujubee.

Omg I'm literally obsessed with her (him?)  Jujubee if you ever read this, can we please be best friends?! She was so full of life and her confidence was sky high.  Probably one of the most charismatic people ever.  She admitted she wasn't perfect, but yet owned all of her imperfections through her jokes and her self-assurance.  Like she said "We as drag queens take pictures once, then put a filter on it, and then put another filter over that. Then post it on Instagram and hashtag 'no filter'".  Soooo funny, everything she said.

Jujubee performing Heart Attack by Demi Lovato.

The Drag Show consisted of drag queens performing songs by lip syncing and dancing.  Daaaaamn, they could work it!  You could tell all of them loved every second of what they were doing.  And the energy from the crowd was great.  Everyone was so supportive and encouraging.  If you're lookin for upbeat and lively, go to a Drag Show. I didn't really know what it was before I went. I personally thought it would be like a fashion show but with drags. Um, hello where have I been?

What stuck out to me the most was that they were all completely confident in themselves no matter what. Jujubee said this month was "Out and About Month" obviously meaning for LBGT people, but she said it was so much more than that.  It was about being proud of who you are every day, and accepting people's differences regardless of societal "norms".  She said set a goal for this month and accomplish it.  And then love yourself for you.  Ah, goal setting, wise words of wisdom. When you have a plan to accomplish something, you're more likely to achieve it and you most likely will complete it faster if you set a goal.  Remember: it takes twenty one days for something to become a habit.  I can dig that.  Like after twenty one days, your good behavior will be second nature.  Beautiful.

I give props to each and every performer who worked their magic up onstage and who proudly owned their sexual orientation.  It must take great courage to be different than what some people deem as "right" or socially acceptable.  I know I fall into this trap too.  I've said it before, but I often find myself too concerned about what other people think.  Sometimes it's easier to change who you are to fit in, but is it really worth it? "People gonna hate whether you doin bad or good."  So you might as well do what makes you happy!

After I left, I was feelin good about myself with a new found sense of confidence, ready to show the world I'm fabulous just by being the way I am.  So this whole post is super cheesy, but it's actually an important message.  Number one: love yourself, you're amazing ;) Number two: don't let others get you down Number three: GO TO A DRAG SHOW it's funnnn I promise.

Keep your head, heels, and standards high.  No one can rock your brand of beautiful better than you.

Mhmm yeah that's right.

Liebster Award

I was so excited to find out I was nominated for the Liebster Award!  Mainly because it sounded cool.  I actually had absolutely no idea what it was.
Okay so here' s the low-down.  The Liebster Award is passed along among bloggers.  The person who receives the award has to answer eleven questions about themselves that the person who nominated them came up with.  Then after answering the questions, the person must nominate eleven other bloggers and come up with questions for them.  How fun!  I love answering random questions about myself.  Probably because it forces me to think about things I usually don't think about.  Seriously, way better than homework.

Fun fact: Liebster is a  German word meaning sweetheart, dearest, darling, favorite.  Ahhh, now I understand why I got the nomination.  I'd say I'm a pretty accurate representation of all those words.  Just kidding. are my answers.
1.What’s the hardest lesson you’ve had to learn?
Not everyone will like me and not everything will be perfect.  I'd say I'm a slight perfectionist.  I want to be the best at everything.  And no matter how much I'm doing, I always feel like I need to do more.  I'm realizing that not everything in life will be perfect.  One of my favorite quotes is "if you wait till everything is perfect, you've waited too long."  So true.  Another lesson is that not everyone will like me.  When I was younger, I'd do everything in my power to try to make everyone like me.  But when I did that, I'd get pushed around and molded into something that I wasn't.  It's hard knowing that some people won't like me for me.  I know now that I need to not worry so much about what other people think and just be me, but it's definitely a work-in-progress.
2. Do you have a motto that you live your life by? What is it?
I recently got a tattoo that say "Believe".  Basically any quotes that are about hope or believing in yourself get me every time.  I could go on about this forever.
3. What is your favorite publication and how often do you read it?
I actually hate reading books more than once, I don't know why.  My favorite series of all-time is The It Girl.  When I was in preschool, we had to fill out a sheet with our favorite book and I said The Bible.  Haha what a classic.
4. Why did you start your blog?
I love to write and love to try new things, so why not?!  Also, Winter Break was a little too long for my liking.  I got so bored I had to do something with my life.
5. What did you want to be when you ‘grew up’? And are you on your way there?
When I was younger, I wanted to be a new thing every week.  Oh wait, that still happens and I'm a sophomore in college.  I really gotta figure my life out, like tomorrow.  But when I was younger, I was determined to be famous for something, anything really.  At first, it was being an Olympic ice skater.  Then, a professional soccer player.  I also had a stage of wanting to be a backup dancer.  Yes, I was a strange child.  Oh and you can't forget about wanting to be a dolphin trainer!  I also wanted to be a Victoria's Secret model, dermatologist, magazine editor, actress, and talent agent.  So to get to the point, yes, I  am in fact on my way to being a Victoria's Secret model!  But seriously, I think college has really helped me gain a better sense of what I want to be in the future.  I definitely feel closer to discovering my true passion and am determined to pursue that.  In one of my diaries (Ha yes I did have diaries. Embarrassing) I said "when I grow up, I want to be happy."  So in that sense, I would say I am well on my way there.
6. BEST dessert you ever had: ____.
Wow. Too hard. I'd say those Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Bars with chocolate on top and peanut butter deliciousness on the bottom.  But since I'm vegan now I can't have that .  Thank God, or I'd be like a hundred pounds heavier.  I'm a recent fan of jelly beans if that counts?
7. Favorite place in the world?
You're killin me.  I love love love California.  But I've also had so many good memories on other vacations.  And whenever I'm away from Madison, I go through withdrawal.  To be honest though, I'd say my favorite place in the world is where ever my favorite people are <3
8. Where do you see yourself at age 30? (30, flirty and thriving?)
I hope to be livin the dream.  I hope to find a job that is fulfilling and am passionate about, so it doesn't seem like a job at all.  I hope to embody youth no matter what.  Hopefully I'll be married or at least in a serious relationship with a serious hottie...who is also sweet, funny, determined, ya know the works.  I also hope to have an amazing group of friends.  I want to be someone who others look up to.  I also hope I'm good at tennis or golf.
9. If you could interview anyone in history, who would you interview and why?
Seriously, I think interviewing people is so interesting so I'd pretty much be willing to interview anyone.  Let's history I'd want to interview Marilyn Monroe maybe?  Or someone like Hitler to see what he was thinking.  But now I'd love to interview one of role models Adriana Lima.
10. The last dream you had involved…
I usually don't remember my dreams.  Is that bad?  But I imagine I dream of hot, sexy men taking me on lavish dates to exotic places?

Alright, now for my questions!
1. Backstreet Boys or N*Snyc?  Why?
2. If you could cast anyone to play you in a movie, who would it be?
3. What is something that you are most proud of?
4. If you were to die today, what is one word that you hope to be remembered by?
5. What is something you've done this past year that would surprise your previous self?
6. What is your biggest pet peeve and why?
7. What is the top thing on your bucket list?
8. What is something that you always need with you?  (besides the obvious like cell phone and keys)
9.  What is your biggest beauty secret?
10. What is the best prank you've ever played on someone?
11. Are you an early birds or a night-owl?
And my nominations :)
