you learn something new every day

I remember every day when my dad got home from work, he would sit at the kitchen table and have dinner.  When I strolled  crawled    through the kitchen after a tough soccer practice the first thing he would ask was the dreaded question: "so what did you learn at school today?" Time after time, I would answer "nothing".  Little Miss Sassy, everybody.  Thinking back, I realize that 1) I had a serious case of teenage angst and 2) I actually did learn something important every day even if it wasn't necessarily related to school, which is still true to this day.   In 2014, I want to make a mini "book" of all the things I learn each day because often times I learn something and then forget it months later when I could really use that advice.  It'll be like my very own guide to life- some funny, some serious, some educational, some fun.   http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/originals /22/82/c7/2282c76049fc1ff9c2039ba87143e7f0.jpg For exam...

a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

After running my first marathon last Sunday, crossing the finish line was surreal; however, the greater feeling was knowing all the support I had from other people. After the race I had so many people tell me how proud they were of me, but what really blew me away was all the people who later told me that I inspired them to run a marathon or just start running in general. Let me tell ya, that  is what keeps me going on days when I don't feel like running.  source When people heard that I was training for a marathon, 96.5% of the people said "Wow, I could never  do that." No, you just think you can't. To tell you the truth, I didn't think I ever could run a marathon either. It just seemed like an impossible goal I would save for "someday".  I didn't even know that a half marathon was in the picture.
